For Canadian SaaS founders.
Fractional CTO. Real systems. No fluff.

For pre-seed to Series A Canadian SaaS founders who need senior engineering leadership, product analytics, and the foundational systems that let scale not destroy you. We've built our own product (Ledger247) so we know what shipping looks like.

Startup desk at night: monitor covered in sticky notes, laptop running a dashboard, energy drinks, scattered handwritten notes — the cluttered reality of an early-stage SaaS founder.

A 5-person team is shipping product and running a business simultaneously.

The patterns we see in Canadian SaaS engagements:

The technical co-founder is solo

One technical person is doing architecture, hiring, infra, code review, security — and shipping product. A fractional CTO offloads the senior judgment without adding headcount.

Stripe + analytics + nothing

Revenue is in Stripe. Product usage is in Mixpanel. Customer data is in HubSpot. Nothing tells you LTV by cohort.

Hiring without a North Star

Investors want to see traction metrics. The team can't agree on what "active user" means. Pre-Series-A pattern, predictable.

Brand looks like a 5-person team

Buyers research before they book a demo. The website that converts a $10K ACV deal isn't a Linktree.

Patterns we ship for SaaS founders.

  • Fractional CTO retainers. Half-day a week or two; architecture reviews, vendor decisions, hiring help, security posture, board-prep technical narratives.
  • Product analytics setup. Mixpanel / PostHog / Amplitude configured for the metrics that actually matter at your stage. Usage cohorts, activation events, retention curves.
  • Branded marketing websites. Custom HTML/CSS, conversion-tuned, mobile-fast. Not a SquareSpace template that looks like everyone else's.
  • Foundational systems before they bite. CRM (HubSpot Starter), books (Ledger247 or QuickBooks Online), domain + email, basic compliance.
  • Investor-ready data rooms. Metrics dashboards, cohort analyses, unit economics — in the format Series-A investors actually want to see.
  • Pre-launch incorporations. From idea to incorporated, branded, operational in 8 weeks — we've done this.

Quick win

Incorporated. Designed the brand and built a custom HTML/CSS/JS site. Stood up Google Workspace and HubSpot Starter for pipeline and lifecycle tracking. Founder launched with a credible presence and a working pipeline. Pre-seed conversations started week nine.

We've shipped our own SaaS.

Most fractional CTO firms have never shipped a product. We have. Ledger247 is a live, multi-tenant SaaS we built and operate ourselves. When we recommend an architecture pattern, it's because we've debugged it at 2am on our own product. The advice comes from operations, not theory.

Common questions from SaaS founders.

Are you a fractional CTO firm or a dev shop?

Both, deliberately. The fractional CTO retainer covers senior judgment without code. The build engagement covers shipping when you need it. Most clients use us for one or the other; some use us for both.

What stage do you work with?

Pre-seed (idea to incorporated to first paying customer) and Series-A-to-B (instrumented, scaling, hiring). The middle — "post-MVP, pre-traction" — we work with on a case-by-case basis. Not every founder needs us; we'll tell you on the fit call.

Do you take equity?

Sometimes, for early-stage founders, in lieu of a portion of cash fees. Defaults to cash. We're not an angel-investor pretending to be a consultancy.

Can you scale with us through Series A?

Honestly, sometimes. Past Series A, most companies need a full-time senior engineer or hire a CTO. We're explicit about that exit point and help with the hire when the time comes.

Ready to ship faster without hiring a senior engineer yet?
